Since becoming a professional piano accompanist in 1997, Yorkshire-born Martyn Parkes has been fortunate enough to work with some of the world’s top instrumentalists and singers, giving recitals at many of the most prestigious venues in the UK, including The Bridgewater Hall Manchester, Wigmore Hall, St Martin in the Fields and St James’s Piccadilly, London. He has performed and recorded as orchestral pianist for the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hallé Orchestra and Manchester Camerata. He has also worked on BBC television and radio projects, including Classical Star, The Kiri Prize and BBC Young Musicians 2012 and 2014. In January 2006, Martyn was appointed as a full time Accompanist at the renowned Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, UK. He combines this with freelance accompaniment work, which ranges from performing and recording to coaching singers and teaching piano.

 

 

 

 

Hrafnhildur, (known as Habba for short!) graduated from the Reykjavík School of Singing in Iceland and furthered her studies on the Postgraduate Diploma Course at Trinity College of Music in London, England.  Following her permanent move to the UK Habba has sung for many of the leading Opera companies including Scottish Opera, English National Opera and English Touring Opera . Habba is also an acomplished recital and Oratotio singer and has given concerts all over the world including ones in Australia and New Zealand.

 

Opera role highlights include Queen of the Night in the Magic Flute (Mozart) and 1st Lady with English Touring Opera and leading roles for The Icelandic Opera, which have included Gretel in Hansel und Gretel (Humperdink) Soprano Solo in Carmina Burana (Orff), Gianetta in E'lisir d'amour (Donizetti) Adele in Die Fledermaus (Strauss) Frasquita in Carmen (Bizet) Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia (Britten) Venere, Fortuna and Damigella in Poppea (Monteverdi) Najade in Ariadne auf  Naxos ( R Strauss)
